Privacy policy

When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, your name, and a Google account identifier. We use them to recognise you when you come back and to connect you with your partner. We do not receive your Google password and we do not access anything else in your Google account.
Inside Ember you choose a display name and a PIN. The PIN is stored only as a salted hash. Your answers to the list, the nights you generate, schedule, and rate, and any notes you write are stored so the app can work.
Your data is used for one purpose: building and showing nights to you and your partner. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train anything. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers.
If an optional AI feature is enabled, the service may send the mood, length, and category names of a night to an AI provider to write its title and introduction. Your list answers, your names, and the specific activities in a night are never sent.
Your list answers are private until both you and your partner have marked your lists complete. After that, each of you can see the other's answers in full, which is the point of the app. Nobody outside your couple can see any of it. The person running the service can access the database for maintenance and support, and will not look at your answers unless you ask for help with them.
Ember sets a sign-in cookie so you stay signed in on your device, and a short-lived cookie during Google sign-in. There are no third-party cookies.
Your data is kept while your couple exists. To delete everything, email ember@calerobinson.com from the address you signed in with and it will be removed within 7 days. Your partner's answers belong to them and are removed only at their request.
Data is stored on a server we control, transmitted over HTTPS, and protected by Google sign-in plus a PIN that locks the app after a few minutes of inactivity. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you.
Ember is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
